POSITION PURPOSE
As a key member of JBM’s Innovation team, you will participate in the conceptualization, development, and implementation of new and improved packages and processes, including design, prototype development, machinery qualifications, functionality, and testing. This position plays an important role in driving innovation with our customers. The successful individual will have packaging form, fit, and function experience.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Design packaging systems and components that meet the defined needs for customer acceptance, quality, functionality, and manufacturing capabilities
Assist internal and external customers in developing creative solutions for difficult packaging challenges
Develop ideas, create mock-ups or prototypes, design and re-design until target conditions are met
Prepare drawings and documentation (technical specifications) required from concept to completion
Assist with performance of packaging testing as required
Research market trends and innovative packaging structures, designs, and materials for new items and improvements of existing items
Ownership of Construction Drawing Blueprints
Multi-task and prioritize work to ensure prompt completion of innovation package design needs

PrePress Support:
Follow SOP to modify customer artwork to meet department and customer standards
Prepare final proof artwork for production printing
Apply proper prepress techniques to customer-supplied art files
Review job specs and customer requirements, art size, and number of colors
Collaborate with front office and production team members to improve efficiencies

Understanding of Continuous Improvement initiatives (e.g. LEAN)

EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of experience in packaging design
Working knowledge and experience using:
CAD systems, specifically ArtiosCAD
Esko Automation Engine and Esko/Nexus experience a plus
Dieless CAD cutting table experience
Proficient on MAC and PC platforms
Paperboard Packaging Design, and Converting experience
